Welcome to my website! I am Research Fellow in the Department of Economics at University of São Paulo. My research and teaching interests are Environmental and Resource Economics, Energy Economics, and Applied Econometrics.

One of my research strands lies in the intersection between market capitalizations of environmental (dis)amenities and policy mechanisms to curb environmental pollution. The other one focuses on the economics of extractive industries, particularly on their impact on local welfare. See two of my most recent publications in each of these areas in the Journal of Environmental Economics and Management [here] and in the Environmental and Resource Economics journal [here].

I hold a Ph.D. from Michigan State University, and a M.Sc. from Universidad Católica del Norte, Chile. Please look here for my CV. You can reach me at nmrivera[at]usp[dot]br.
